Ingredient Deep Dives

Part 1 of a 5-part series about the ingredients we use in our soaps.

Shea Butter and Mango Butter -why we love them!

At Wild Roots Artisan Soaps, we carefully select every ingredient that goes into our handcrafted bars, ensuring they provide the best cleansing experience. Two of our favorites are shea butter and mango butter—rich, plant-based butters that add wonderful qualities to soap.

Shea Butter: A Skincare Classic

Shea butter is a well-loved ingredient in skincare, and for good reason. Extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, this creamy butter has been used for centuries. When incorporated into soap, shea butter contributes to a luxurious, creamy lather that enhances the overall feel of the bar. It also helps create a hard, long-lasting soap that doesn’t dissolve too quickly in the shower.

Mango Butter: A Silky Addition

Mango butter, derived from the seeds of mango fruit, is another ingredient we love to use in our soaps. It has a silky, lightweight feel that makes for a smooth, gentle cleanse. Mango butter is known for its ability to contribute to a stable lather and a conditioning feel, making it an excellent companion to shea butter in our formulations.

Why We Use Both

Combining shea butter and mango butter in our soaps creates a well-balanced bar that offers both richness and smoothness. While shea butter contributes a creamy, conditioning element, mango butter adds a touch of lightness and silkiness. Together, they enhance the overall cleansing experience and give our soaps a premium feel.

At Wild Roots Artisan Soaps, we believe that every ingredient should serve a purpose, and shea butter and mango butter are two we stand by. Whether you're a longtime fan of handcrafted soap or new to the experience, we invite you to explore our collection and enjoy the benefits of these beautiful natural butters in every bar.

Below are a few of our soaps formulated with both mango and shea butters.
